Dr.
Zahl, born Martin Philip Zahl, has been an Allendale resident
since 1974, when he moved at the age of 4 from Grand Rapids
Michigan. He attended Public School graduating in 1988.
Shortly after high school he joined up with the U.S. Marine
Corps and became a Heavy Machine Gunner and then indoctrinated
into a Special Forces Reconnaissance unit. He saw action
during a Philippine Coupe attempt, and during the Gulf
Conflict, Desert Storm. Ending his four-year tour as a
non-commissioned officer rank E-4
After leaving the military Dr. Zahl got married to another
Allendale native and decided to attend college. While
attending Grand Valley State University and working at
UPS, shortly after departing the Marines, he developed
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in his wrists. The Medical Doctors
would've performed surgery had he not ran into a local
chiropractor while researching for a paper in one of his
pre-med courses. The chiropractor took a look at his wrist
moved a bone and took care of the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
So after some careful research he changed his major.
Dr. Zahl received a Doctorate in Chiropractic from Palmer
College of Chiropractic. After graduating from Palmer,
Dr. Zahl and his family came back to Allendale hoping
to help the people he cared about in his home town. |
